Fish Stocks

Mark feeding young trout at Highleigh At Oakford Trout farm we stock only the finest rainbow trout. All the fish are triploid meaning they don't mature in the winter and therefore their appearance keeps fresh and their condition doesn't deteriorate.

They are split often to ensure they keep their quality and as the fish are fed on a high protein balanced food this keeps them in the best health. We are a disease free farm due to the fact the fish have plenty of room in each pond and are not put under any un-necessary stress, which is also helped by the fact that we don't use machinery.

Our fish have full tails which makes them a harder fighting fish to land which pleases fishermen, and obviously they look clean and healthy. Sizes range from small to large and we start selling the rainbows from 1 1/4Ib up to large doubles.

We have started stocking triploid brown trout and they will be on sale from next spring but of course by then will only be a 1Ib in weight.
